<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>The "rxburn" data layer contains perimeters from multiple agencies of various prescribed burns, with associated tabular data for responsible agency, contract number, project name, start date, and acres reported and more. Data provided are merged from sources of varying quality. There has been a significant amount of work to resolve duplicate prescribed fires (from different sources). This layer is a best attempt, does not include complete data for all agencies. Two of the attributes in this dataset, PRE_CON_CLASS and POST_CON_CLASS are based on an abstract concept called "Condition Class." There is more information about "Condition Class" in the Overview Description / Entity and Attribute Overview section. Those two attributes are not collected consistantly.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>V19_1 was released in april 29th, 2020 and includes 985 new rx burns from: CALFIRE (89), NPS (5), and BLM. The USFS submited 250 burns from 2018 and 581 from 2019. The date format was changed from YYYYMMDD to MMDDYYYY. Thirty-seven treatments (preparation, hand pile and machine pile) were moved out of this feature class and into the Non_RXFire_Legacy13_2 feature class.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
Prescribed fires alter fuel conditions and this data is used to update fuel models maintained by CAL FIRE, the U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and National Parks Service and other organizations. In addition, past treatments are tracked as part of the periodic California Strategic Fire Plan in order to identify "success stories" involving lowering costs and losses from these pre-fire projects.

V18_1 was released in May 2019 and includes 203 new rx burns from CALFIRE (61), NPS(13), BLM and USFS (122). The seven BLM perimeters are from 2017. V17_1 was released in April 2018 and includes 236 new rx burns from CALFIRE, NPS and USFS.
V16_1 was released in May, 2017 and includes changes from the BLM, CAL FIRE, and NPS.
V15_1 was released in June, 2016 and includes changes from the USFS, CAL FIRE, and NPS.
V14_1 was released in May, 2015. After release, the NPS supplied corretions for 14 wildfires and 67 prescribed burns. The corrected data was posted to FRAP's data download page as fire14_1 in late May. V14_2 was released in July, 2015 to reflect that changes had been made to the original release in late May. Version 14_1 from late May is an exact copy of version 14_2 released in July. V13_1 NOTES: the dataset this year had several changes:
-The field "TREATMENT_NAME' was expanded to 100 characters to accommodate CAL FIRE and contract counties names. - All projects that were NOT prescribed burns were taken out of the dataset and put into a new feature class called "Non_FireRX_Legacy. These projects are considered to be legacy projects and should not be assumed to be a full accounting of all such treatments done by contributing agencies. -no rx burn treatments were submitted by BLM this year. V11_1 Notes: 125 historic (1968-1983) prescribed fire perimeters were added from Pinnacles National Park. V10_1 Notes: 102 Yosemite NP wildfire use fires (from 1973-2004) were removed from this feature class and put in the firep feature class.

fire damage to key elements and processes typical of those ecosystems, or fire-related risk to
ecosystem health. Fundamental to this idea is that current expected fires are compared to
historic fire regimes with respect to fire frequency, size and patchiness, and effects on key
ecosystem elements and processes. These classes are then assigned based on current vegetation
type and structure, an understanding of its pre-settlement fire regime, and current conditions
regarding expected fire frequency and potential fire behavior. Condition Classes were thus
defined as the relative risk of losing key components that define an ecosystem (Hardy et al.,
2001). The conceptual basis is that for fire-adapted ecosystems, much of their ecological
structure and processes are driven by fire, and disruption of fire regimes leads to changes in plant composition and structure, uncharacteristic fire behavior and other disturbance agents (pests),
altered hydrologic processes and increased smoke production. Condition Class 1 is associated
with low level disruption of fire regime, and consequently low risk to loss or damage. Condition
Class 2 indicates some degree of departure from natural regimes, with associated changes in
ecosystem composition and structure that render future fires a likelihood of some loss and
change in elements and processes. Condition class 3 is highly divergent from natural regime
